Ecology
Egg
This egg is extremely hard, resistant to heat and cold, and cannot be broken by any impact. Only the Egg Dragon's special digestive fluid can dissolve its shell for hatching. This fluid reacts only to its own eggs, so there's no worry about other objects dissolving.
Hatch
Only the eye area of its egg is cracked. In its hatchling stage, it has no legs, arms, or wings, so it cannot walk, run, or fly, and instead rolls around. It is excellent at observing the world with its small eyes and sensing the atmosphere. It is adept at noticing life near it and enjoys finding nests where its body can reside. It is said to live by blending into the nests of other animals or the eggs of other dragons, feeling their vitality.
Hatchling
Part of its egg becomes wings, and the eggshell covers its head, belly, and back. It doesn't fully emerge from the egg. It feels comfortable inside the egg, and the shell gradually softens, allowing it to bounce around. It loves to fly high and slide down on its own egg. In winter, you can easily spot a hatchling Egg Dragon at a sledding resort.
Adult
Many of the eggshells that were part of its body disappear, its wings grow larger, and eggshells remain only on its head, belly, and tail. The tips of its wings are cracked and split, but unlike their appearance, they are very hard. The eggshells can withstand strong impacts, and it can also swat opponents with its wings. They are also light, so discarded eggshells from Egg Dragons are sometimes collected and recycled into bowls or protective gear. Since it hasn't used its four legs since it was a hatch or hatchling, it doesn't walk quickly. It can curl up its face and body to protect itself with its hard wings, and it is said that covering its body with its wings in cold winter can maintain a warm temperature.
Observation Log
- Wearing an eggshell, it curls its body to pretend it hasn't hatched. It has an instinctive habit of avoiding external threats by blending in with other eggs or burying itself in a nest.
- As it grows, its shell envelops its body, becoming a hard carapace. It rolls shell fragments to form formations and creates nests with small animals to share warmth.
- The cherished shell is Egg's emotional core. It spreads its shell, which has transformed into wings, to convey warmth and soothe other creatures. When it curls its body and wraps itself with its wings, it appears like an egg, deceiving enemy sight.
