Ecology
Egg
It has horn-shaped lava attached to both sides, and its surface is cool due to heat insulation. It is mainly found in hot lava, making it very difficult to obtain. When collecting, one must endure the suffocating, intense heat of the surroundings.
Hatch
It has small wings but cannot fly. The horns on its head are not hardened, retaining the color of lava, and only its forehead has hardened lava. Its tail is very short, and its claws are not visible.Since nothing is hotter than itself, it doesn't understand the meaning of 'hot'. It perceives even regular water as very cold and loves hot things to the extent of drinking lava or boiling water. Its favorite season is summer, and its least favorite is winter.The Lava Dragon's skin might seem very hot, but like the surface of an egg, it's not hot to the touch. A transparent membrane covers its entire body, blocking the Lava Dragon's heat, and in winter, this membrane protects it from the cold, allowing it to maintain its internal warmth.
Hatchling
Its wings grow larger, and its back is covered with traces of hardened lava. Its horns have hardened, covering its entire head. Its large wings allow it to fly, and its wing flaps create hot gusts, so caution is needed if you are nearby when a Lava Dragon takes flight, as you might get burned. It cannot yet spew lava at will, but lava naturally drips from its body like sweat.
Adult
Hardened Lava protects its entire body. Its claws are well-developed, and sharp protrusions have emerged on its back. Its skin appears as if Lava is flowing, and it can actually regulate its skin temperature. It can spew Lava from its mouth, and it is said that if it holds iron in its mouth, it can melt it. The heat emitted when a Lava Dragon flaps its wings is so intense that it can cause immediate burns upon contact. Its breath or snorts are hot enough to smoke meat. Without even needing to light a fire, placing food in a Lava Dragon's mouth can heat it up or boil water like a microwave. Furthermore, if a Lava Dragon enters water, that spot becomes a warm hot spring. Bathhouse owners in villages sometimes commission Tamers to acquire Lava Dragons. It has peculiar tastes, preferring grilled meat over raw meat. After catching prey, it sometimes heats it with the Lava it spews or smokes the meat with its breath or snorts before eating.
Observation Log
- Being made of lava, the Lava Dragon often acts carelessly, unaware of its own heat. Only after growing a bit does a transparent membrane form on its skin, allowing it to learn that it can approach others without causing burns.
- As it evolves, a hard lava shell forms on its body. Hot wind-mixed wing flaps begin along the hardened lava, and once it can fly on its own, it trains to control its power by practicing lava eruptions. It does not get flustered even by lava bursting out like sweat.
- Adult Lava Dragon possesses lava skin and can regulate its body temperature. It has a unique diet of smoking meat with Lava and shows maturity by maintaining a suitable distance from people to protect the village.
